Half Day Workshops 

NOTE: All courses are full or passed with the exception of ANCIENT EGYPT the week of July 25th (morning).  Click here for details and registration.
 
 
Half-Day workshops are available to students entering 1st - 12th grade, and are open to both Hope and Non-Hope students. 

These half-day discovery sessions were created as a place for students to learn, grow, and be active! Whether it be Animal Science, Elementary Yoga, Coding, or Cake Decorating, help your student discover their passion by learning about it first-hand.

Cost: $180 per workshop

Course Length: Each course is 1 week long, either in the morning or afternoon. Enroll in as many as you choose! Before/After care is not being offered.  

Non-Hope students: Students are not required to be enrolled at Hope Christian School, but are expected to abide by our Hope Engage Guidelines.

Workshop Offerings

  • For students entering 3rd - 5th grade
 
Join us for a week in the kitchen! This course will focus on cooking and baking bite sized foods, both sweet and savory. We will learn techniques and etiquette in the kitchen, as well as the meaning of various baking and cooking terms. As we develop menus and create dishes, this course will be mostly hands on with a little bit of "classroom time". On the last day of class we will have a Tea Party!

Have you ever wondered how to bake a perfect cake and make it level? Have you looked at the bakery and wished you could create a showcase cake? This hands-on course is designed to equip you with skills to bake, level, frost, and decorate cakes for any occasion. We will cover how to make borders, flowers, and free hand designs. You will bake a cake and bring it to class. A decorating kit with tips and icing bags will be provided.

This course will focus on student's creativity! We will create various arts and crafts projects while socializing with others. This class is completely hands on and includes activities such as painting, drawing, sculpting, and more!

This class will focus on creativity captured through a lens. You will learn  about the variables that matter in photography: light ,subject and composition. We will create a variety of perspectives, photo tricks, and fun storytelling images. Come and enjoy photographing with your cell phone camera or digital cameras! 
 
*Students are required to bring a digital camera or phone with camera for this course*

Join us as we learn about all things animal science! Students will learn about various species of animals, behaviors, anatomy, and their nutrition. They will meet several different animals and learn what makes them unique.

Interested in computer programming? Try your hand at coding in this workshop! This course teaches the foundations of computer science and basic programming, with an emphasis on helping students develop logical thinking and problem solving skills.

Learn a variety of life skills in this home economics class! We will cover the basics of household management, budgeting, cooking, baking, sewing, and enjoying doing chores. This class is highly hands-on and will help students develop confidence in everyday-life tasks!

Let’s travel! Learn the basics of maneuvering in an airport, taxi, hotel, restaurant, stores, beach and mountains through games, group time, and instruction. Students will gain a deeper appreciation of Hispanic culture by experiencing traditional music, food, and traditions.

Join us as we create a variety of arts and crafts using several different mediums every day. Students will work in groups for certain activities, and work individually on others as they learn how to express their unique style. This workshop will include painting, drawing, building, and several other activities!

Act with us as we explore improvisation through theater games. Exercises are designed to free students’ imaginations, build self confidence, and encourage collaborative play with peers. Through this process we will be looking at character development and fun!

  • Students entering 4th and 5th grade

In this course, students will learn the basics of woodworking such as sanding, sawing, drilling, measuring, and finishing products. After learning how to handle tools safely, students will make their own projects to take home! This course requires an additional supply fee of $30.

This course is Christian-based and will focus on flexibility and mindfulness. Students will practice yoga poses and engage in a little bit of "classroom time". After learning as a class, we will break into smaller groups for games and activities.

Explore space with us as we build rockets, create planetariums, and enjoy edible rocks! In this workshop we will cover space exploration, galaxies, stars, and planets. We will also learn about the history of astronomy. including constellations and famous astronomers.

This workshop is an introduction to the history and culture of ancient egypt. We will explore the design and construction of the pyramids, as well as Egyptian civilization in ancient times. Students will engage in a variety of hands-on activities such as making canopic jars and recreating ancient parchments!
