Melissa Perkins Gillett – Class of 1980 (30 Year Reunion)

I'm in beautiful San Diego!  I have been here for 2 years now and I love it!   My husband, Thomas and I own a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning business mostly working on yachts and other boats....we get to travel to wonderful warm places to follow a fleet of dive boats.  We have been to North Sulawesi in Indonesia.....Singapore, Hawaii and there is a trip planned to the Philippines in August this year!  I get the rewards and Thomas works hard!

I have a degree in Radiology Technology....X-ray technologist!  I don’t work in that field now because I am a heart patient.   I have had 3 heart attacks and don’t have the full energy I would need to lift patients or be on my feet for 12 hour shifts.  I miss it, but I'm lucky I get to stay home!  I work for hubby and he lets me take off when I want!   I volunteer for the German Shepherd Rescue here in San Diego, I go walk 10-15 dogs that are at the boarding kennel as much as I can.  We are also fostering a beautiful male, River, who is has been wonderful company for our female Mystic.  Our dogs are a big part of our life....now that our children are gone!

I'm married to the most wonderful man in the world, Thomas Gillett.  We have been married for 2 years now and love every minute of it....I have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren and 1 on the way!!  We love spending time with our grandkids...it’s awesome!!  We love to travel, spend time with our families and our church is very important to us.  We are involved in a great couples group at church and it has brought us great friends and a closer walk with God.

God is Good......I believe he is using me to tell others about heart disease in women....it IS the number ONE killer of women.     I had a friend tell me that God has something big planned for me and.....I should be scared!  (in a good way of course!!)  Whatever He has planned for me I know it will be wonderful!

Life is good, I live in the most beautiful city with the best man in the world...you'll hear no complaints from me!

Blessings,
Melissa
